I’m wondering how many cool dudes drive minivans, compared to soccer/hockey moms, e specially when it comes to ones with manual transmissions. But then again, it doesn’t really matter since I am the furthest thing from cool...

“Want an SUV but need low entry”
This seems to contradict typical car shopping, namely that older people favor higher ride height for egress. I don’t think old -- ladies or men -- actively seek to sit lower. Quite the opposite.

I am a cool dude who drove a Diesel, Manual Minivan for a while. And I am the only one that matters.

Yeah that part makes no sense. But the entirely scientific numbers are interesting

I don’t think I have ever seen a manual transmission mini van

Was it brown?

I saw one back in high school, a friend of mine occasionally drove his parents’ manual (and mid-engine) Toyota Previa to school.

Come to Europe then, most of them will also be French for some reason.

There were quite a few in the ‘80s, foreign and domestic, but by 2012, when I bought mine, there was only one for sale in the US. Mine currently has a cool RX-8 shift knob; I just hope that when I take it in for service they actually know where reverse is and don’t try to follow the pattern on the knob...

Probably not but it had a Digital instrument cluster

Thank you - I’m glad someone thinks I’m cool
Between you, me and LongVoyager I think we’re up to three - double points if you have a Vanagon or Previa or MT.

Give me a year and you can add me to the cool dude category.

Poor study design. I would have gauged “lesbian ladies” vs “cool dudes”, and would rather be associated with the former.

In my area it's about 50/50 old ladies and lesbians, with some some overlap.

K-platform Caravans could have them, as well as the first two generations of Mazda MPV

Maybe I’ll swap the knob before service just so they don’t F up my clutch/transmission.

Please no. I don’t want to be featured there, although I might have qualified for “the obligatory tire post” last year when I was having some vibration.
Perhaps I’ll throw the stock knob in place for service so they don’t screw up my car, and then swap it back afterwards. It would be nice if I could just swap out the center of the knob with a classic Mazda logo instead of the shift pattern, but I don’t know if that’s possible, but with a little time and a color laser printer anything could happen...

Living in the PNW where such cars are a cliche, “cool” and “Outback” are circles that almost never overlap, just my hot take.
